Peninsula: land with water on three sides
Strait: narrow channel (strip) of water that connects two larger bodies of water
Glacier: moving ice sheets that carved out holes, valleys, and trenches in the land

Michigan's lakes, mountains, and changing seasons make it an ideal place for tourists to visit. People come to swim, fish, sail, ski, and view the fall colors in autumn.
The Upper Peninsula is full of forests making it great for the lumber (things made out of wood) industry. The Lower Peninsula has more flat land and is ideal for the agriculture industry. Iron ore and copper made Michigan a leading mining industry. And, of course, Detroit is well know for the auto industry.
