Extra Points: Be able to label the Capital of each Northeast state
Landforms: valleys, hills, low mountains, oceans, waterfalls
Climate: winters are long, cold with a lot of snowstorms; summers are warm but short
Products and Natural Resources: forests, maple syrup, granite, marble, coal, hydro-electric plants (using water to make electricity), iron, glass, steel, blueberries, cranberries, potatoes, dairy products, fish, lobster, shellfish
Landmarks: Washington, D.C. (White House, Capitol Building, Supreme Court, Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument); Philadelphia (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross’s home, Ben Franklin’s Post Office, Hershey Chocolate Factory); New York (Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, World Trade Center and memorial, Niagara Falls)
Culture: sports (basketball and volleyball) inventions, Amish (religion does not permit use of electricity, cars, telephones, and other “modern” items); Dairy products and seafood are a big part of the culture; baked beans, potato chips, and buffalo wings were invented in the Northeast.
